Day 11 - Jet boat on the Colorado River

After our Arches trip, Carmen and I along with a number of others on the trip, took a jet boat ride on the Colorado River.

Even as we start on the water, the trip has fantastic views.

Moab is famous for its 4-wheel drive and mountain bike trails.  One 4x4 route was pointed out, for the very adventurous; (it is the blackened path stretching from the power poles up the hill.)

Outstanding rock formations.

More rock formations.

We saw some Petroglyphs.

Mountains with great strata.

A naked bather in the river, some people on the trip told me to be sure to put the picture in the blog for the people on the boat.

An Arch named the Tea Pot Handle.

We saw a couple of Blue Heron nests on the cliffs over the Colorado River.  A couple of Blue Herons were at the nests.

On the way back to the docks, we pass the same fantastic scenery again.

And bald rock mountains.

As we are returning, the boat driver and guide, sees a beaver and this was a surprise to everyone, including the driver.

On the return, now that the sun is off the rock cliffs along the Colorado River, we see several rock climbers climbing.

And after dinner, I saw humming birds.

After the boat trip, we traveled to the lodge we were staying at and I took my star trails picture during the night beginning around 10:00 PM.  Unfortunately, the skies didn’t get really dark until much later.  I am not happy with how the picture came out, wanting to take more pictures, but after taking about 120 pictures (using 110) and then stacking them to get this picture I am going to put it on the blog.
